Just an ordinary Irish Catholic following the events of the EU in post-Lisbon Treaty Ireland. We voted NO to the Lisbon Treaty in 2008. We were told to vote again on October 2nd 2009, and this time we were told to vote YES, or else the consequences would be ‘catastrophic’. The Government’s word. The majority voted YES. They gave in to the bullies. The Government manipulated the people. But it’s not the end! As Christians it is our duty to bring the Gospel into the market place. Vatican State Secretary Cardinal Bertone in an interview with the Czech Daily Newspaper MF DNES has said it is natural for the people to resist changes to a country’s heritage or culture especially in relation to same-sex marriage and liberal laws that contradicts the Christian culture on which Europe was founded.
“Individual European countries have their own identity. The European Union prescribes its laws or views to them and they must comply with their traditions and history. Some countries are logically resisting this – for example, Ireland. If Europe recognized homosexual couples as equal to marriage, for example, it would go against its own history. And it would be adequate to stand against it. The Church wants to encourage the states in this.”
We will resist with the help of God.
